Kristina was 29 when she said her life changed at a bar counter.
She was on vacation in Cuba with friends and family when she met Sam Juma, 30. According to them, it was love at first sight. They spent just one week together and made a decision many would call crazy: she left her life in Canada and moved with him to Uganda.
Seven years later, they’re still together and share their everyday lives with more than 860.000 followers on TikTok. But fame also brought unwanted attention. Some accuse them of faking their relationship to gain popularity. Others message Kristina saying Sam is only with her for the money. In real life, she says, some people mistook him for her tour guide, one person asked if he was her lawyer, and waiters served her without even looking at him.
None of that changed their minds. Both families support them and just want to see them happy. Kristina says those who insult them are only looking for attention and that their bond is strong and unbreakable. Now they dream of getting married in Africa, continuing the peaceful life they’ve built there and, one day, opening a school.
