Kurt Gödel: the mathematical genius who starved to death because his wife was hospitalized and couldn’t cook for him

Kurt Gödel was one of the most brilliant mathematicians and logicians in history, a mind so revolutionary that his ideas helped change computing and modern physics forever. However, behind his genius there was also a deep fear that ended up destroying him. 😔

This was because Gödel developed extreme paranoia and became convinced that someone was trying to poison him. The only person he trusted was his wife, Adele, so he would only agree to eat food prepared by her.

But in 1977 Adele fell ill and had to be hospitalized for several weeks. Without her at home, Gödel simply stopped eating, convinced that any other food could kill him.

Sadly, the brilliant mathematician died of malnutrition in 1978, weighing barely 30 kilos. 😞
