And Gaga would not be the only one. Hollywood seems to be filling up with mothers who decided to enter motherhood after 40: Sienna Miller became a mother at 44, Natalie Portman had her third child at 45, Cameron Diaz became a mother again at 53, while Aubrey Plaza and Carly Rae Jepsen became mothers for the first time at 42 and 40, respectively.
Coincidence or a sign of changing times? Careers no longer seem to have to stop to make way for motherhood, and advances in fertility have expanded the possibilities for some women. The result is a phenomenon that Hollywood is making increasingly visible: the baby boom among women over 40.
