Fair play was not a tactic to win anyone’s favor; it was a conviction he carried with him every time he stepped onto the field.
“Winning is important, but doing so with dignity is what truly lasts. Fair play was not a strategy, it was a conviction”, Lahm said.
And that’s the point: titles pile up in a trophy cabinet, but the way you earned them is the only thing that follows you wherever you go.
