Lali Espósito was onstage at Teatro Ópera in 2014, performing A Bailar, her solo debut. She was wearing a light-colored outfit, singing with total concentration into the microphone, and everything seemed like a normal night of shows. No one in the room noticed anything unusual as it happened.
But a camera captured the exact moment when the lighting played a cruel trick: the microphone’s shadow fell right over her cleavage and formed a silhouette that lent itself to a very different interpretation. The seriousness on Lali’s face, completely unaware of what was happening, added the finishing touch of humor to the image. The photo took off on Twitter and from there jumped to Argentine media, becoming one of those memes born purely by chance.
Lali was already known for her acting career and her time with Teen Angels, so the photo did not make her famous. It simply gave her an involuntary anecdote just as she was beginning to establish herself as a solo singer.
