Mounir said that he has epilepsy, takes several pills a day, and that nerves or excitement could trigger a seizure. That is why he preferred to stay home and experience every match from afar, keeping in constant contact with Lamine.

The footballer’s father said he felt proud of his son’s work and that of the Spanish national team. He also acknowledged that being thousands of kilometers away during a final was difficult, but that he had to think about his well-being and avoid causing problems during such a demanding trip.
