[VIDEO] Lawyer died hugging her dog under the rubble: her dog survived the earthquake

Lenny Fernández’s story became one of the most heartbreaking left by the earthquake that shook Colombia.

The lawyer was trapped under the rubble alongside her dog Salomón after the structure collapsed in Cali. When rescue teams finally managed to reach them, they found a scene that moved those taking part in the efforts: Lenny remained hugging her pet.

She did not survive the collapse.

But Salomón did. The dog was rescued alive from the rubble and received care after remaining trapped alongside his owner.

The image of both of them under the structure heartbreakingly sums up the bond that can exist between a person and their pet. Even in one of the most terrifying moments of her life, Lenny stayed beside Salomón.

Now he is still alive, while relatives and rescuers try to piece together a story marked by a tragedy no one expected.

She could not get out, but Salomón did. And perhaps the last thing he felt before being rescued was precisely that hug.
