A holistic center in Costa Rica, Gaya Tree, offers self-defense workshops for women. But instead of teaching punches or holds, the methodology consists of walking in circles and, when faced with a simulated attack, saying “Leave me alone”. Then, all the students repeat the phrase in unison. The video went viral and sparked a wave of mockery.

Criticism came from several quarters. “What if the attacker doesn’t speak Spanish?”, one user asked. “What if they don’t care what you say?”, added another. The comments mocked both the instructors and the students.

The workshop defends its approach: “Having a support network is part of what helps us face difficult situations”. However, critics pointed out that the proposal is naive and dangerous. The controversy remains open, and the video is already one of the most commented on social media.
