Viewers of the Today program witnessed a moment that quickly got people talking: weather presenter Taylor Haynes was caught by a giant crab during a live broadcast from the Sydney fish market and had to be hospitalized after the animal refused to let go of her finger.

Taylor had been showing the most expensive seafood at the place when she followed her co-host’s suggestion to kiss the crab, and at that moment the crustacean clung to her finger with brutal force. Employees had to use a metal rod to free her, while she tried to stay calm and even joked about receiving the attacker as a gift.

Later she appeared again on the program with her hand in a glass of cold water and confirmed that she would go to the hospital. “It took me quite a while to get the crab to let go of me”, she said, while the show’s hosts could not hide their astonishment at what had happened.
