“It looks like a plastic belly”, someone wrote. “Why does it look so strange?”, another asked. The actress, who is expecting her third child with Adam Shulman, did not argue: she uploaded a backstage video and wrapped up with four words that silenced the debate: “Fake hair, real belly”.
It is not the first time a pregnant woman’s body has become the subject of public suspicion. Beyoncé experienced it in 2011, Meghan Markle did too, and even Ashley Graham decided to show her stretch marks unfiltered to remind us of something simple: neither stretch marks, nor unusual shapes, nor marks on the skin make a pregnancy any less real.
Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Hilaria Baldwin, Blake Lively, Demi Moore and Chrissy Teigen have already shown it in their own way. The skin tells the truth, even when it is sometimes uncomfortable.
