Mia Khalifa was not just another spectator at New York’s MetLife Stadium. The former actress, now an influencer, arrived at the 2026 World Cup final wearing Lamine Yamal’s jersey and left with more than just a victory to celebrate.

One day after Spain’s victory over Argentina, she posted a phrase to her stories that did not go unnoticed: “This is what life sounds like knowing Argentina was defeated”.

Playing in the background was “Perla”, Rosalía’s song that compares toxic men to pearls, and Khalifa dedicated it without holding back to Argentine fans and players. She also called the Albiceleste “VARgentina” after Nico Williams’s disallowed goal.

Her argument was straightforward: she accused Argentina and its people of playing dirty and behaving aggressively on and off the field. A deserved comment or unnecessary provocation?
