In an interview with journalist Joaquín Álvarez, Lisandro Martínez opened his heart and expressed how important his wife, Muriel López Benítez, was in helping him develop as a person and a professional footballer:
“Since I’ve been with Muriel, she taught me to be a man. I came from a macho background and I was never able to develop my feminine side; I learned how to treat a woman, how to express myself, how to give love”.
“I thought crying was weakness; she taught me those things that I love. Because I love to cry, express myself, give love, say things to people’s faces”, the Argentine defender concluded.
