Vaguito doesn’t know that his owner isn’t coming back.
Every morning, on Punta Negra beach in Peru, this dog walks to the shore and sits down to gaze at the horizon. He lived there with a fisherman who cared for him until the man died some time ago. No one explained to Vaguito what happened. He only knows that this figure used to return from the sea every afternoon, and now he continues waiting for him.
A woman from the area took care of him: she feeds him, looks after him, and put on the green collar he is wearing. But she cannot break him of that habit. The neighbors know him, call him “the Peruvian Hachiko”, and everyone, in some way, also looks after that waiting. Vaguito keeps going to the shore, faithful to a promise that only he remembers.
