Olive had never felt rain on her paws before.
She stood still in the middle of the yard, watching the drops fall onto the wet stone, not knowing whether to move forward or stay frozen there. Her little dachshund puppy ears hung soaked, and her eyes, both curious and scared, kept searching for somewhere to hide. Every drop seemed like something new she did not know how to process.
Minutes later, the scene changed completely: Olive appeared curled up like a croissant inside a mustard-colored blanket, with her head tucked in and her body warm, as if that fabric were the safest refuge in the world. All it took was a blanket and some warmth for her fear of the rain to turn into the deepest sleep of the day.
