What was supposed to be just another piece of coverage of the 2026 World Cup celebration ended up becoming a very uncomfortable moment for Mexican journalist Montserrat Gómez.
While she was doing a live broadcast from outside the stadium, a fan approached her from behind and grabbed her by the waist without her consent, an action that was captured by the cameras.
Despite the surprise, the journalist reacted quickly, moved away from the fan, and continued with her work.
Later, she shared the video to publicly report what happened, pointing out that this type of behavior should not be normalized and that women continue to face situations of harassment.
The images quickly went viral on social media and prompted numerous expressions of support for the journalist. The incident also reopened the debate about the safety and respect that female reporters should receive.
