Tim Curry is 80 years old, had a body that no longer responded to him, and left this life. 🎭
In 2012, a stroke left him paralyzed from the waist down, confined to a wheelchair that forever replaced the man who walked with Frank-N-Furter’s crooked smile and the voice that froze entire generations as Pennywise.
Now, in his autobiography “Vagabond: A Memoir”, the British actor described that immobile body with a coldness more unsettling than any clown makeup: “Living in total darkness is boring and annoying”, he wrote, as if he were talking about the weather and not losing control of his own legs.
Curry was born in 1946 in Grappenhall, England, and lost his father, a Royal Navy chaplain, when he was just 12 years old.
After the stroke, he did not retire: he continued acting with his voice, lending it to series such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars, until he appeared on camera again in 2024 in the film Stream, his first acting role in 14 years.
In the book, he avoids the lurid details of his love life, but does not shy away from describing, with dark humor, what it means to live trapped in a body that no longer obeys.
