They were released, and the first thing they did was kiss right there in the street… Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus, the Russian couple who climbed to the spire of the Empire State to get engaged, made headlines again this week in Manhattan.
It is worth noting that they were apparently granted supervised release while the legal proceedings against them continue. Despite this, as soon as they left the courthouse, they went down the subway stairs together and, in the middle of the crowd, hugged and kissed in a moment the cameras did not miss.
They had reached the top of New York’s most famous skyscraper with a banner that read: “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace”.
Right there, he got down on one knee with a ring. The case is still open, but that kiss in the middle of the street has already become the symbol that, for them, love weighs more than any consequence.
