An act of paternal love ended in tragedy inside the Pine Ridge residential complex, located in Gulf County, Florida.
34-year-old Walter Fletcher Bowers III was at home preparing chicken wings to feed his beloved young children when a pot of oil on the stove caused a violent fire.
Port St. Joe police assisted the children, between 5 and 10 years old, who fortunately managed to recover at the hospital. Sadly, the devoted father, who was rescued from the thick smoke by emergency crews, did not survive his injuries and died on June 1, leaving a great void in his community.
