Luigi Mangione turned 28 in a federal prison while awaiting two murder trials, accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Despite the seriousness of the case, his legal defense fund has already reached $1.5 million in donations, driven by people who see him as a protest figure against the health insurance industry.

Mangione has pleaded not guilty and will face his court proceedings between 2026 and 2027.
