Madonna, 67, put it bluntly: “I have no cartilage in it, thanks to dancing for so long in high heels, running on pavement, and doing ashtanga yoga”. That is what she told The New York Times, and the fact hits hard coming from a woman who turned movement into her identity.

Just over a year ago, she was still jumping on a trampoline and doing intense dance cardio. Now she trains differently: Peloton, Versa Climber, and high-intensity circuits adapted to what her body allows. She still dances, she still cycles, but at just the right frequency so as not to put more strain on that knee, which no longer has its own cushioning.

It is not the first time her body has set limits for her. In 2019, during the Madame X tour, she had to cancel shows on medical advice and wrote on Instagram that she needed “three days to fully recover from the knee”. Six years later, the story repeats itself, but this time she is setting the rules of the game herself.
