Amid the flooding in Bangkok, Thailand, which began to intensify on September 24, someone decided it was a good time to take out the jet ski.
Heavy rains turned some streets into actual canals. And while thousands of people were dealing with the consequences of the flooding, 27-year-old Sorn Keadsiri decided to ride a jet ski through one of the flooded areas, maneuvering between cars and pedestrians. His explanation: he wanted to “cheer” up the locals.

The problem was that the waves he created didn’t go down too well with those who were there, and the video ended up drawing criticism on social media. The police eventually tracked him down, questioned him, and the jet ski was seized.
And the joke ended up costing him dearly: 15 days in jail, though he won’t have to serve the sentence unless he violates the terms of the suspension within a year; a 5.000 baht (about 149 dollars) fine, 12 hours of community service, and one year of probation. In addition, the court ordered the jet ski to be confiscated.
He wanted to cheer up the locals. He ended up with a fine, community service, and no jet ski.
