A 54-year-old man, whose identity was not disclosed, arrived urgently at a hospital in a rural area of Brazil around six hours after suffering an alleged snake bite while handling wood in a shed.

The patient had intense pain, extreme swelling, and discoloration in his forearm and left hand, as well as tingling and difficulty moving his fingers. During treatment, he surprised doctors by pulling the dead snake out of a plastic bag that, according to him, had attacked him.

Due to the rapid progression of the injury and the vascular risk, he was taken immediately to surgery, where severe tissue damage and muscle involvement in the affected limb were detected.
