Sergio Navarro is 34 years old and lives on a small farm in Río Gallegos, in Argentine Patagonia. There, among mates and campfires, he shares his days with Ringo and Kiara, two Dogo dogs he trained himself by watching videos, without anyone’s help.
He taught them to sit, to stay still wearing a shirt and beret, and even to pose next to the accordion as if they were part of an old countryside photo. It was they, Sergio says, who decided when they were ready to record: if they did not want to, they would lie down on the ground and that was the end of it.
Today they have more than 1.3 million likes on TikTok, but for him that is the least important thing. “They changed my life, they make me grow from the heart”, he told TN. He also shared a reflection that few would expect from a rural producer: “There are no bad dogs; bad are the people who raise them with violence”.
