A French couple, both 62 years old, were traveling from Paris to Morocco with their 22-year-old daughter. They stopped to refuel near Orléans, around 4 in the morning, to stretch their legs. The car started up again. The wife did not.
No one noticed. Neither the husband, focused on the road, nor the daughter, asleep in the back seat. So, between French highways and miles piling up without pause, four hours and 300 km went by until he finally looked at the empty seat.
He called the police in Labouheyre, in Landes, to report his wife’s disappearance. The officers tracked her phone and found her waiting, alone, at a rest area in Deux-Sèvres, exactly where he had left her. The husband had to turn around, drive the same 300 km in the opposite direction, and only then could they resume the trip to Morocco. She, we imagine, had a conversation pending for the rest of the journey. 😅
