That is how a man drowned five puppies on January 24, 2026, in the Amolanas sector, in the commune of Tierra Amarilla, Atacama Region, Chile. The case went to trial on September 11, and the Copiapó Court unanimously found him guilty of animal cruelty.
The prosecution requested three years of medium-grade lesser imprisonment, a fine, absolute and perpetual disqualification from keeping animals, and a prohibition on possessing weapons. It is still unknown how much time he will actually spend behind bars: the final sentence will be read on September 16, and it will then be known whether justice lived up to what he did to those five puppies, who had no chance to defend themselves.
