Vanessa Phillips did not scream or threaten. She bought a ticket.
It all began in December 2025, when she met Armonte Wilson, a pastor and former political candidate in Washington, DC, on another cruise.
He invited her to travel together again, this time on the MSC Seascape, which was departing from Galveston on August 30. She says she transferred nearly $1,100 to him to cover the fare.
Days before departure, Wilson stopped responding, blocked her, and removed her from the reservation. According to Phillips, the cruise actually cost $524.
Instead of giving up, she made a separate reservation under her own name on the same ship. She found him in a hot tub onboard, pulled out her phone, and confronted him in front of other passengers while recording every second. Wilson ended up calling ship security.
The video surpassed 14 million views in 24 hours. He later came forward to defend himself: he says the actual total was $1,587, that she paid $998 in installments via Venmo, and that he removed her because she disputed the payments, not to scam her.
So far, no charges or arrest support either version.
