It all started over a karaoke speaker and a mother who told her partner that he could leave her life because she would replace him with “someone else”.
It took only minutes for Eric Otto White, 63, to grab a gun and murder his girlfriend Kavina Madison Brooks, her twin sister Kavona Brooks-Lee, and his brother-in-law Kenneth Lee in Redlands, California.
His stepdaughter at the time survived the macabre incident and testified during the trial, saying that it all happened after her mother touched White’s karaoke speaker, and according to her testimony, White disapproved of her mother’s “permissive” parenting style.
The day before the shooting, she had told him that he could leave the house because she would replace him with someone else, and according to prosecutors that was the moment when White felt a “loss of control”, in addition to not taking his medications, but that would not save him from life imprisonment or the maximum penalty.
