Beezow Doo-doo Zopittybop-bop-bop wasn’t born with that name.
He was named Jeffrey Drew Wilschke and legally changed his name in October 2011. In January 2012, a drug arrest in Madison, Wisconsin, made him a worldwide trending topic: #FreeBeezow on Twitter, imitators on Facebook, and even a Jimmy Kimmel sketch featuring news anchors trying to pronounce his name without laughing.
He explained that each part meant something: the explosion of consciousness of the universe’s infinite love, the daily struggle with that consciousness, and the ironic result of that struggle.
In February 2016, he was arrested at Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, after he was seen tearing down several flyers from the library entrance. According to court documents, he confronted a campus police officer, bit his finger and tried to stab him with a pen. He then fled, threw rocks and a brick, and was subdued with a Taser. In court, the prosecutor preferred to use his original name, since he couldn’t believe the name change was real. But yes, it was.
