The girl pulled free from her mother’s hand and ran straight toward 11 Sur Avenue in Puebla.

The woman ran after her, but she didn’t make it in time: she tripped and fell onto the pavement just as a truck was approaching in the lane. That was when an employee of the ‘El Rey del Ahorro’ store, who until then had been arranging boxes at the entrance, dropped everything and ran across to reach her. He pulled her out of the way just in time, and he himself ended up sprawled on the ground from the momentum of the rescue.

The store’s security cameras captured every second of the scene, which is already circulating on social media with thousands of reactions. What caught the attention of those who watched the video was not only the danger the little girl faced, but also something many users pointed out afterward: the parents did not give the man who prevented a tragedy even a visible gesture of thanks.
