Jones arrived at Northside Hospital, in Cherokee County, Georgia, at 6:05 in the morning. The pain in his left side was so sharp that he could not remain standing: he collapsed on the waiting room floor.
For 90 minutes, he screamed for help while staff walked past him. When a doctor finally approached, he did not give him pain medication or a gurney. He told him to stop screaming, that others had waited silently for hours, and that he should seek another hospital if he could not endure it.
Jones left on his own and went to Kennestone Hospital. There, he was treated within 30 minutes. A kidney stone is medically considered among the most intense pains a human body can feel — and at Northside, no one lifted a finger. 😡
