Khari Arnold had a daughter who was just four months old and a new habit: taking her to the Wolf Creek Library in Atlanta every week.
He didn’t know that quiet ritual would become something else. A pediatrician warned him that by 18 months, Ariah should know about 10 words. She already knew 250. Arnold, an editor at NBA.com, recorded those afternoons in an Instagram reel during the summer of 2024, and something sparked: other parents wanted to experience the same thing with their own children.
In July of that year, the first group gathering took place. Today, ‘Library Dads’ brings together more than 300 dads at different libraries in Fulton County, twice a month, for ninety minutes each time, held together by three simple words: connection, books and brotherhood. Arnold already dreams of bringing those reading afternoons to other cities across the country.
