Diego Sandoval did not expect to find a kitten in the middle of the jungle.
He is a Marine and a canine handler, a job in which four-legged companions are usually dogs. But this time, together with another colleague, he rescued a little feline that someone had abandoned deep in the wilderness. They named her Micha.
Since then, Sandoval has made sure she has everything she needs: food, safety, and affection. Since there are dogs where he is, he keeps her protected and under close watch to prevent any contact with them until it is time to take her to her new home in Cartagena.
What began as an unexpected encounter turned into a second chance. Micha was left behind in the jungle, but this time she was lucky: someone decided she would never be alone again.
