“She saw me when I had nothing and stayed when I could lose everything”.
The story of Mark Ruffalo and his wife began long before Hollywood knew who he was. The actor was around 30 years old, barely had any money, and lived in an adapted garage while trying to find opportunities. He even feared that she would eventually leave him because he couldn’t offer her a more stable life.
But the opposite happened. She believed in his talent when his career had yet to take off, and the two married in 2000. Shortly afterward, just as things were beginning to improve professionally, Ruffalo received news that put them to the test once again: he had a brain tumor.

His wife was pregnant with their first child, and he waited until the night before the operation to tell her what was happening. The surgery allowed doctors to remove the tumor, but Ruffalo permanently lost the hearing in one ear, and part of his face was left paralyzed. For months, he had to step away from acting while he recovered.
She stayed again. She accompanied him throughout his recovery and was there when he managed to return to work and build the career that had once seemed so far away.
Then came the success, the nominations, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But by his side remained the same woman who met him when he lived in a garage and stayed there when his health put everything else into perspective ❤️.
