Matt Damon, 55, has five reasons to smile every day at his Brooklyn home.

Their names are Charlie, Osita, Cookie, Rudy and Scoutie, and none of them came from a pet store.
The actor said that he and his 49-year-old wife Luciana only adopt: they never buy.

Osita joined the family during a trip to Costa Rica, and since then the Damons’ home has continued to grow with dogs who previously had no one.

On June 6, in honor of Adopt a Pet Day, Damon visited the Eastwood Ranch foundation in Agoura Hills, California, a shelter that rescues animals from high-kill locations.

There, he spent time with Betsy, a pit bull who is still waiting for a home, and admitted that if space in Brooklyn allowed it, he would keep adding dogs to his pack without thinking twice.
