At 3 years old, Matt Grodsky stood in front of his entire class and announced that one day he would marry Laura Scheel. To his classmates, it was just a childish whim. To him, it seemed much more serious.
After preschool, their paths diverged. For years, they barely heard about each other through the Christmas cards their families exchanged. Until a mutual friend brought them together again in high school, and just two weeks later, they started dating.
Their story survived different schools and even universities in different states. Then, in 2015, Matt took Laura to the place where it had all begun and proposed to her there.
They got married in December 2016, more than 20 years after that promise. Today, they are still together and have two daughters. What began as the innocent love of two children ended up becoming the life Matt had imagined when he was just 3 years old.
