Some friends call before they visit. And then there are others like Woody Harrelson.
Matthew McConaughey shared one of the most unexpected visits from his friend on the Glass Half Full podcast. They hadn’t seen each other for about a year when, one night, Harrelson showed up at his house in Los Angeles at around 2 a.m.
But he didn’t ring the doorbell.
According to McConaughey, Harrelson “jumped the fence, picked a window, snuck in, and got into bed with us”. McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alves, were sleeping peacefully when they discovered Woody had settled in between them.
Host Craig Melvin pointed out the obvious: someone could have shot him for much less. Harrelson, far from overthinking it, replied: “Well, I was hoping he didn’t have a gun”.
And that, apparently, was his entire plan.
The most curious thing is that McConaughey says that night wasn’t an exception. As he told People, Harrelson has a habit of never coming in through the front door and showing up unannounced. What starts as a quick visit can end with Woody staying for months.
McConaughey even considers it “a beautiful trait” in his friend: the ability to feel at home practically anywhere.
