Megan Rapinoe has never been one to keep her thoughts to herself.
In an interview with The Guardian, the former captain of the United States women’s national team floated an idea that did not go unnoticed: “Men have ruled the world all these years. Maybe they should take a few hundred years off”.
The person who said it was the same footballer who that year was crowned world champion, named FIFA’s Best Player, and received the Guardian Footballer of the Year award. An activist for gender equality and LGBTQ rights, Rapinoe has used every microphone to speak about what she believes is wrong with a world designed by men.
