Men love sleeping spooning and with their hand on their partner’s chest. Science says it helps calm stress

Tell your guy to stop playing innocent… because that hand that “accidentally” ends up on your chest while you sleep might not be as random as it seems.

According to a study by the University of Colorado Boulder, when couples have physical contact while resting, their brain waves can synchronize. They call that interpersonal synchrony, and it basically means the bodies start to “sync up” without either person really noticing.

And of course, that doesn’t mean every nighttime movement has scientific backing. But there is something more interesting behind it: contact with someone you trust can help lower stress, ease discomfort, and help the body relax after a hard day.

So, beyond the joke, the issue isn’t that random. Sleeping close to someone, touching each other without thinking much about it, or seeking contact has more to do with how we function than with pure habit.

So, well… maybe it wasn’t just a habit. Maybe there was a little neurology involved.
