Rihanna went viral again for a statement she made more than a decade ago.
In an interview published in October 2015 by T: The New York Times Style Magazine, the singer spoke about her priorities at the time and explained why she didn’t want to devote energy to a relationship: “Men need attention. They need that nourishment, that little ego boost that helps them from time to time. I’ll give it to my family, I’ll give it to my work, but I won’t give it to a man right now”.
The phrase started circulating on social media again and quickly sparked conversation about the role romance plays when a person is focused on their family, their projects, and their career.
That said, Rihanna was talking about her priorities at that stage, not making a definitive statement about relationships.
