A dangerous aesthetic trend is spreading across Russia, where young men pay money to selectively damage their ears.

The procedure costs about 80 dollars per ear and consists of applying compression techniques to create a permanent deformity similar to that of martial arts athletes. Although the practice originated in the southern part of Russian territory, it has now moved to central cities with one-month waiting lists.

Health experts warn that this self-inflicted damage exposes patients to serious infections with pus that dissolve tissues, requiring costly reconstructive surgeries in hospitals across the region.
