Judge Oyuki Ramírez Burciaga, 45, died on May 12, 2026 in Zacatecas, Mexico, after spending nine days hospitalized following an attack by a swarm of bees at a sports complex in the municipality of Guadalupe.
According to local media, the judge tried to protect her three-year-old son and her father while they were surrounded by the insects, receiving hundreds of stings that caused severe complications.
Her death caused shock in the country, and the Judiciary mourned the loss, highlighting her career of more than two decades within the Mexican judicial system.
