This Sunday, at the Tulln Challenger in Austria, something happened that men’s tennis had never seen before 🎾

Mika Brunold, from Switzerland, and João Lucas Reis da Silva, from Brazil, faced each other for the title. Both have openly stated that they are gay, something that remains virtually nonexistent among male tennis players at the professional level. For decades, the men’s tour was a place of absolute silence on this subject, while in women’s tennis there were players who did dare to speak openly.

Brunold was the one who took the title, but two openly gay players sharing the court in a final is no minor detail: it is history being written in real time 🏳️‍🌈
