“Please smoke, Daddy.” That’s how Mike Tyson’s family begged him to start smoking marijuana again.
The 60-year-old former boxing champion said at the launch of his podcast “Confidence of Champions” that he gave up cannabis for just five days, and his wife Lakiha Spicer and his children couldn’t stand it. According to Tyson, without smoking, he became “a completely different person”—and not for the better. “People watched me walk and said: wow, he’s another person”, he recalled with a laugh.

What’s interesting is the comparison he made with alcohol: he says that when he’s drunk, he makes a fool of himself and even gets aggressive, but when he’s high, he turns into the most peaceful guy in the world. So much so that he joked that marijuana is the real “peace pipe”: while alcohol ends in fights, a joint ends in selfies. The anecdote came after Tyson went six weeks without smoking marijuana while preparing for his fight against Jake Paul in 2024. 🌿
