Milla Jovovich was just 16 when she decided to elope to Las Vegas to get married.
It was October 1992, and she was sharing the set with 21-year-old Shawn Andrews while filming “Dazed and Confused”, the cult film directed by Richard Linklater. Something real emerged between scenes and rehearsals, or at least something real enough for two young actors to decide to skip any formalities and get married on a whim, without telling anyone.
The marriage did not last long. When she found out, Jovovich’s mother acted as her legal guardian — because her daughter was still a minor — and on November 25, barely seven weeks after the wedding, managed to have the marriage annulled. Jovovich also saw much of her footage left out of the film’s final cut. She stepped away from acting for a while and tried her hand at music, until she returned to film in 1997 with “The Fifth Element” and married, this time, director Luc Besson.
