Brittany Boltinhouse had held the crown for barely a month when it was taken away from her.
She was crowned Miss North Carolina USA on June 28, 2026. On Wednesday, August 5, A Blaize Productions—the company that organizes the pageant in that state—announced that she would no longer represent anyone.
The official reason: information that resurfaced about her conduct on social media over an extended period.
Thom Brodeur, president of Miss USA, was unequivocal: the organization does not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia, or any language that strips another person of their dignity.
What no one publicly confirmed was the exact content of those posts.
A local outlet, The NC Beat, claimed that Boltinhouse had repeatedly used a racial slur in posts from 2017 and 2019, although that information was never directly verified by the organization.
Boltinhouse, a native of Beulaville in Duplin County, did not issue a statement when the news became known.
Her place has already been taken by Myla Hadley, 24, the first runner-up, who will compete in Miss USA on August 27 in Miami with the organization’s full support.
