Juan Manuel Martínez is 25 years old, and in December 2025 he received the worst possible news: his mother suffered a stroke, and tests revealed something even more serious, a brain aneurysm that required urgent surgery.

The cost: $22,000 dollars that the family did not have and that the health insurance provider was taking too long to resolve.

So Juan Manuel did the only thing he could think of: he got on a bicycle and pedaled more than 100 kilometers. He set out with $6 thousand dollars already raised thanks to social media outreach, and along the way that figure kept growing.

Charity events, anonymous donations, people who had never met him but decided to help.

When he arrived, the account showed $18 thousand dollars. Only 4 thousand remained to reach the goal and operate on his mother during the week of April 6 at Clínica Sagrada Familia.

Every kilometer he pedaled was, literally, time of life for her.
