Katherine spent the last days of her life hospitalized due to complications from her illness. It was there that, in a moment of total vulnerability, one of the most heartbreaking clips of recent times was recorded:
“Mommy, I want to go to heaven now… There is so much illness here, so much suffering”.
The video, originally uploaded by her relatives to show the harsh reality of childhood cancer, quickly spread across several countries around the world, triggering prayer chains and thousands of messages of support.
However, the physical pain was too much for her little body. Sadly, the girl’s death was confirmed, leaving a deep collective sadness but also the relief that she finally rests in peace, free from pain and treatments.
