In June 2024, the city of Caruaru in Brazil was left in shock after the discovery of 24-year-old Allany Rayanne Santos, bound and lifeless in her home.
The Civil Police investigation uncovered an unforgivable betrayal. Her own mother, Andrea Maria dos Santos, allegedly ordered the crime to keep an inheritance of real estate and money that the young woman received from her grandfather.
The perpetrator, the mother’s lover, confessed that he entered the house pretending to perform a “religious ritual” to torture her and demand the loot; when he did not obtain it, he ended her life, and was later caught on camera disposing of the murder weapon in a vacant lot. Family ambition led the mother to end up behind bars.
