On Tuesday, September 29, in Houston, a judge ruled that the girl would be primarily in Aaron’s care. According to his family, he had gone to court to protect his daughter, complied with every court order, and waited patiently for a ruling. That afternoon, after the custody hearing, Vivian and her mother arrived at a home in the western part of the city. Shortly before 6 p.m., police received a call about gunshots. Paramedics could do nothing for the girl. The Houston Police Department is investigating the case as an apparent homicide and investigating the circumstances surrounding the mother’s death later in the hospital.

The family, through its attorneys, broke its silence with a short phrase: “Never came”. They described Vivian as a girl loved without limits by her father and by everyone whose life she touched. They asked for privacy as they grieve and for the stories of parents who, like Aaron, trust the legal system to protect their children to be heard.
