Kendra Briggs experienced immense emotion as she watched her son Jacob Anderson cross the graduation stage at Spring Valley High School in Las Vegas. The 18-year-old received his diploma after facing years of diagnoses and treatments that made that moment uncertain.

Jacob was diagnosed with autism at a young age and did not begin speaking until he was 7 years old. At that same age, he faced leukemia, received care at Summerlin Hospital and needed multiple blood transfusions. At 13, another challenge arrived: epilepsy, with episodes that deeply worried his family.

For Kendra, watching him graduate was not just another ceremony. For a long time, she doubted whether her son would reach that stage, but Jacob arrived smiling and happy. He will now continue developing life and work skills through specialized educational programs.
